The site is located in Newark, New Jersey, neighboring a train station and a river. For purpose of the project this proximity was meticulously analyzed. The objective was to create a connection between this community and its river, since is known to be a very important part of the city’s new development. The emphasis was in generating continuity and an alliance between those two elements.   This building not only gives a home to the new Visitors Center, but also to a new environment, with new spaces for the community’s enjoyment. This proposal talks about pulling together all the neighboring elements of the site; the train station, the park, the river, the people, and the atmosphere. It’s about bringing together, to one same place, every aspect of its context. That’s why the terms like current, flow and movement describe the basic concepts of the project. The design is based in these concepts; therefore the space generators of the project where two interlacing strips that emulate current and movement. They produce a sequence of spaces and paths that at the same time wrap the different programs, leaving also plenty of public spaces for gathering.  The building is more than a visitor’s center, it is a place for everyone, it s a connecting of space, it’s an entrance to the park, and it’s a current that follows and allows you to navigate the site.
